Rep. Douglas Bruce was cut off from House debate on a bill for a pilot foreign farm-worker program today after saying Colorado doesn`t need "5,000 more illiterate peasants."

Douglas Bruce is correct they are what they are Illegal Alien guest workers (notice how the other rep never answer the Q but tryed to find ways around it )and the chair and Rep are abuseing there power and pushing there own agenda someone find there email and i urge everyone to email them and there boss on how undemocratic that was and they should have a review of her actions and maybe someone should step down

Well if they pass the bill it wouldn`t be illegal, DUH. What someone should ask and get a good answer to is why Americans can`t be hired to do the labor they need to import "peasants" for. I imagine the answer is it`s a lot 0of back breaking work for not enough money to support an American family. And therein lies the problem.

what does he care, it`s manual labor. as winded as he was calmly taking, he should be in favor of seasonal workers moving their limbs around willy nilly as long as he won`t have to go out there where a mild breeze could lift his toupee off.

well i agreed with him totally... up until the illiterate peasant part. if they are NOT US citizens and are coming from ANOTHER country they ARE immigrants. The illiterate part was quite uncalled for really and he should never have said it, even if he was thinking it. Its bigoted remarks like that that are causing a lot of issues.

I thought peasants was more offensive than illiterate. Hiroforce nailed the issue. As for taking sides in this minor skirmish...they`re politicians, if they`re not busy fighting each other, they`re busy screwing over taxpayers. I`d rather see them fight.

these people wanting to pass the bill don`t give a fuck about the "temporary worker." Paying them minimum wages, no future benefits like a retirement plan, never having to worry about a pay rise because the work force rotates, and so on. bah.
The peasant remake was not very nice.

Bruce stood by his statement afterward, saying his colleagues are "offended by the truth" and contending the term was technically accurate.

People are offended by the truth. If the phrase illiterate peasant offends you when speaking about migrant farm workers that are infact illiterate and peasants then by all means be offended.
