Yeah, Bakshi`s genius lies in his attention to detail, and Frazetta`s innate understanding of how bone, musclature, and skin all fit and work together, gives his work it`s realism. His paintings have always had a feeling of `snapshot`, of capturing an action at it`s peak, that you just don`t find very often.
Sidenote: It`s said that at the beginning of this project, when Frazetta first entered the room, the animation team,a roomful of grown men, nearly shat themselves (We`re not worthy, We`re not worthy!)

I remember this film, fantastic work. The showdown between the elf-like evil sorcerer and the barbarian, where he overcomes the sorcerers powers to kill him, is quite dramatic.

this movie was made using a technique called rotoscoping. They actually film live actors and animate over them to get the real life motion look to the animation. Ralph Bakshi made quite a few movies using this style of animation including a rotoscope animated version of Lord of the Rings.

This was an awesome movie. If you`re into animation like I am, you`ll enjoy the fight scenes. There is a legendary character that the hero meets about halfway through the movie. He wears a wolf mask and is bad ass. The rotoscoped fight scenes are a must to see.
