k for some reason i always had thought james earl jones had passed away already. wikipedia says he`s still alive. might have been simpsons that screwed me up, maybe i thought that bloody gums death episode was a reference to jones`s death. i was gonna say `rip james earl jones` but i guess i no have to anymore. they made a good choice to switch the voice. he`s frickin 77 now too

Episode 1&3 had the best saber fight scenes, but I would have to say for story, acting and immersion 4,5,6 are flawless

Wow, love this stuff. I gotta dig up the DVDs and watch the originals again. Younger generations don`t understand what it was like to see these things in the theater.

Episode 3 was made to satisfy our generation. All we care about now is action, action, and more action. I`ve watched all the star wars episodes and my favorites by far are episode 5 and 6.

(But I must add, Darth Maul`s fight scene with Qui Gon and Obi Wan is the best fight scene they ever made.)

I agree that the action sequences in the first 3 are pretty incredible, but there are two things severely lacking:

1. Weight

2. Passion

Younger kids don`t understand what I mean by weight because all they know is CG. But when you watch 4-6 every effect is man-made and real. Physical models and puppets will always prevail over CG in my opinion (which is funny since I`m a Visual FX major).

As far as passion goes, I can only refer to wd1337`s comment. Episodes 4-6 were action-packed, yes, but there was such a fantastic story that carried the movies that it`s impossible to really give a rat`s a$$ about Padamama or Panda Bear or whatever the hell her name is and her boyfriend`s emo-tastic performance.

Plus, the story behind the creation of the original movies is a tale of what movie-making really used to be like.

We live in different times now, and it`s not all for the better.

Haha, hearing Vader with that voice had me cracking up. It was almost like a corny episode of the original Dr Who series or a Monty Python sketch.
