Nicely done! I`ve always wanted to be able to play like that, but I just don`t have the gift.

This starts somewhere in the middle of the third & final movement, and continues to the end. Martha Agerich playing.

Martha is known for playing super fast, but her fire is reigned in admirably by this conductor (who is it?), who keeps her at about average tempo. This isn`t to put down how difficult this is - it`s extremely difficult piano music.

She is so young here - prob only a few years after she won the Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1965). Maybe early 70`s?

If you want to see the best version of this piece see Horowitz play it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s_Oo7HcQKw). Rachmaninov himself even admired the way Horowitz played it, saying, "He swallowed it whole!", and such was Horowitz`s performance that Rachmaninov himself seldom played the concerto after hearing Horowitz

She`s hot. I`ve always found it funny, especially this composer when he flails his arms so strongly at some points the video.

The composer Rachmaninoff is well and truly dead (1 April 1873 to 28 March 1943) .
The man madly waving his arms in the conductor.
This is (kind of normal) I knew a conductor that was scream and sing along during the performance!
During one practice he got so anrgy at the french horns that he spit out his false teeth and they landed on the music stand of the principal violin player.

That was something........

Sergei Rachmaninoff is one hell of a composer, like so far I`ve only heard piano concertos 2 and 3 and my God they are amazing.....

Anyone know were I can get Sergei Rachmaninoff concertos?

I strongly bow down to anyone who can play the Rach 3 half way decently, but I have heard more polished and more powerful versions than this. Still 5/5 for having Piano skill I so desperately want yet lack the discipline to obtain. Ironically if you hear Rachminanoff`s recordings of him playing this piece, it really is ironic but its inferrior to most other versions.

Horowitz is nice, it`s a very good version, but Argerich`s version is GREAT.
Best version of this concert! Rachmaninov really wrote this piece for someone strong, with alot of passion and a gentle touch too. It`s my favorite concerto, the only concerto i have on my phone lolz :P

The conductor is Riccardo Chailly.

I`m glad to see so many members of spiked have interest in classical music. 5/5
