These fish are in the aquarium trade, not exactly `common`, but if you were after one in the US I don`t think you`d have trouble tracking one down, they`re even occasionally available in Australia. They certain aren`t endangered.

The Fort Worth Zoo in Texas used to have one but it died a few years ago. But it`d been there as long as I could remember(15+ years) so these fish do live a long time.
