I dont see anything wrong with this guy`s argument.
Although there are times when someone(cranky parents or otherwise) needs to intervene, take "Manhunt" for example (not a bad game aside for shitty camera angles) was an extremely voilent (yet fun) game where you can off people with a plastic bag over the head or a shard of glass in the neck (my favorite).
And I especialy agree with his last point.

This is an era where the media is manipulated by a non-technology savy generation, and a major part of the audience falls under the same category.

Because they don`t understand the technology they become scared, defensive and launch offensive attacks againt it, much like how a bigot can`t comprehend the culture of another race.

While this technology opens up doors that can potentially harm a persons well being its not as bad as we hear on the news (very often blown out of proportion by the media).

Quite frankly I am also sick of people nonchalantly pointing the finger at the internet. It will probably be another 20 years before these clueless manipulators disappear from mainstream media, I`ll be an old fart and finally the media will agree with my opinions and the kids will call me stupid for saying holographic TV`s cause cancer.

What is ironic is that the media actually supports Pop culture. In fact, one will find that the corporations control the media, among many things. They, in turn, profit from ignorant teenagers. In order to do that, they must populate and advertise pop culture (i.e. MTV, etc). This culture, then, propels to push the limits of acceptable boundaries in order to further intrigue the teenage mind (i.e. sex innuendos, violent movies, etc) Hence the irony, when they finance and control the media to propagate this, they at the same time denounce video games and the internet of broadcasting the same things (i.e. sex, violence). Really, it`s because the corporations don`t control them that they would make such a big deal out of it.

Aye. Ive been gaming since I can remember. Ive played all the gory, violent games under the sun. I watch plenty of violent movies.

Its infuriating to no end when the asshole media blames games and the net for the corruption of youth. Im no saint, but ive never dealt a bad hand nor have I ever sought to harm anyone. I know right from wrong.

The way the media misleads and manipulates the older generations ignorance of modern technology and its powerful influence on culture is almost brainwashing.

Its not the games, or the net, or sex, or the TV. Its the person. Its their environment, their set of ethics and morals...their sense of decency and basic respect for everyone that should have been carved into stone when they were children being raised.

What fool of a parent would believe their child would grow up honorable without a strong hand to guide them there?
