Nolan Ryan took a line drive to the face from Bo Jackson once. Bloodied him up real good and he didn`t even fall over. He also kept pitching for the rest of the game. Best damn pitcher ever.

I had a few close calls pitching in little league. I got it hard on the ankle once, and managed to catch a line drive just barely over my head once. Even in little league it`s a dangerous position to be in.

I remember that Japanese Memory foam thing on here a while back. The pitchers should have a hat made out of that, nice and light, and hardens on impact...

If you look very closely you`ll notice that his glove hand comes up right before the ball hits his head, the ball hits the glove and then the ball and glove together smack him in the side of the head.
