It did look very pretty....But if it doesnt have shooty or mech orientated violence (or action in general) Im usually not interisted.
That and I cant speak/read japanese :/

This movie is for ppl who love Anime Romance, no action for u lol. Is pretty well made movie accept the ending script is a bit off and confuse.

Well its not his best work, Makoto Shinkai also has made "Voices of a distant Star" which is a semi decent mech orientated romance. And my Personal fave anime of all time not only for graphix but for style and story... "The Place Promised In Our Early Days" which is a supernatural kinda themed Romance.

the vibrant imagery is impressive but the story looks very generic.

"The title 5 Centimeters Per Second comes from the speed at which cherry blossoms petals fall, petals being a metaphorical representation of humans, reminiscent of the slowness of life and how people often start together but slowly drift into their separate ways"(wikipedia).
