Marijuana Lung Cancer Study Pt 1 Of 2

Pulmonary specialist and Federal Government researcher from UCLA Geffen School of Medicine finds that marijuana does not cause lung cancer in his study on the effects of cannabis and the lungs. Results of this study are discussed for the first time.

This study doesn`t prove that smoking marijuana does not cause cancer, if anything it says that the results are still inconclusive. The doc said that perhaps THC has a counter-acting effect on marijuana`s carcinogenic content. This is precisely what happens when lay people use the results of scientific studies (albeit selectively) to further their agendas.

Even if it doesn`t cause cancer, it sure does stop the ability of mind growth. Everyone I know that smokes weed has either become dumber or lost the ability to increase their minds potential. Kinda ruins freindships in the longrun.

Sure, we all know stoners who are thick and clueless. There are probably as many (if not more) whose pot-smoking has no effect, or stimulates their creative juices. Carl Sagan was a pot-smoker and active proponent of its benefits and legalisation. There are many like him.

People who smoke pot and are dumb might have started out that way. Maybe the drug didn`t help, but it mightn`t have hurt, either.

Too, it`s likely a matter of degrees. A joint or bowl every now and then, might be just the thing. Living in a constant cloud of blue, skunky smoke? You might be over-doing it and heading towards brain-damage.

Epicurus was one of the first to articulate the idea of "everything in moderation" that we`ve come to recognise as a pillar of Greek wisdom. It`s as true now as then.
