In martial arts it is common for a master to have a skilled student demonstrate a technique. It is an opportunity for the teacher to explain the basic move, and also gives him a chance to refine the demonstrator`s more advanced technique.

For the video I`m sure they are doing what they would typically do in a class.

This technique is very practical in real life situations. The real problem lies in the training itself, just because you watched this video don`t expect to be able to think of the move in your next fight if you have one. The only way this technique will work is if you train it so much that when an incident involving this does occur it is natural reaction. If you have to think of the movements in which way to move the arms/body it won`t seem practical, but with practice comes perfection. Train as if you were to fight, and fight as if you were training.
