Bank robbers turn North Hollywood California into a warzone. The famous Bank of America robbery. North Hollywood shootout was an armed confrontation between two heavily-armed and armored bank robbers (Larry Eugene Phillips, Jr. and Emil Dechebal Matasareanu) and patrol and SWAT officers of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on February 28, 1997, at a Bank Of America teler-office.

I remember hearing about this on the news. The wife of the second gunman wanted to sue the police for not getting him medical treatment in time. Needless to say, nothing came of it.

^^talk to any cop. You let your guard down, your fucked. too many cops get killed cause they assume its safe. It was right that they didn`t send in anybody.

the only thing i didn`t like about the program was the quick switching back and forth between the helicopter vids and the reinactments. i`d rather they left the reinactments out, i didn`t mind the wireframe diagram things.

anyways, it`s amazing that only the 2 suspects died, with all that ammo being shot, u`d except more fatalities. it was funny when the pickup truck driver took the keys with him, that 2nd guy failed :p

So wait, philips shot himself, and at that exact moment a police bullet finally pierced his armor and severed the spine?

Sounds more like the bullet ricochet`d down through his body and snapped his spine, and they wanted some credit.

To be honest, the gunmen weren`t defeated, they gave up, but the cops want to sound like they made a difference...

shame none of those cops could have had the benefit of counterstrike practice back then. this could have been handled much faster! Ask yourselves, how long would these two have lasted in a basic CS Office map against 350!! counter-terrorists, even if only armed with handguns?
