Bank robbers turn North Hollywood California into a warzone. The famous Bank of America robbery. North Hollywood shootout was an armed confrontation between two heavily-armed and armored bank robbers (Larry Eugene Phillips, Jr. and Emil Dechebal Matasareanu) and patrol and SWAT officers of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on February 28, 1997, at a Bank Of America teler-office.

it boggles my mind how 2 gunmen can just stand in front of a building out in the open for so long spraying at anything and everything in sight and the officers couldn`t take them down? The situation was dealt with HORRIBLY. It would have taken one sniper on a rooftop to put one in both their heads end of story...after the first few civilians and officers got hit they should have taken any means necassary to take the gunmen out, sniper imo would have been the ideal way to deal with this.

This is a video that should have ended after 2 minutes with *BOOM HEADSHOT* but the cops apparently don`t have the marksmanship to beat level 1 of DuckHunt.

That`s what happened. But they had to extend the show to make it half an hour. So it seems like this went on for ever

Enzeesquared , the reason they didnt use snipers to take out the gunmen was because it was a no AWPs server because the Terrorists whined it would be too easy for the CT`s

Anyway, it`s important to note that although this clip is 10mins long, the events that took place took maybe, 3-5 minutes? I`m probably overestimating.

The cops were armed with 9mm pistols, and some shotguns. You can`t really expect them to hit them in the heads from where they were situated. Would you stick your head out to try to take a shot with a pistol with ak-47s firing back at you?

the main problem here is the cops are retarded. "hey we see 2 guys in full fatigues walking into a bank we better send some pistol units and detectives without body armor over right away." Also it looks to me that they just stood out in the open for like 30 minutes and no cop could get a head shot? 45 minutes later a swat van finally is called in? Civilians are still in the street when you saw them walk in the bank 10 minutes earlier? You realize they have AK and your still hiding behind your car and a carboard locksmith shop with a shotgun?

My first thought when they saw the guys walk in the bank at this "great oppurtinity" to set up as they put it...LAPD didn`t have 2 sharpshooters available?
