Shit this stuff happens all the time. My father was a mechanic for most of his life and he went to work for a jiffy lube. He quit a week later when he was told by the management that it was standard procedure to do this. Nowadays with cars as complicated as they are and no one wanting to learn how to do this stuff themselves its so easy for these businesses to make money off our ignorance.

^^^ Oh BTW you might also might not to want to go to Just Brakes either cause they are using a bait and switch skeem they get you in with a promise to change your brakes for 99 bucks but after you get there they try to charged you up to a 1000 dollars for your brakes saying more things are wrong when them when they`re not, One guy went and said he wasnt going to pay so they wouldn`t put his car back together and made him call a tow truck. Just about every one of the stores have had there Better Business Bereau license revoked. So everyone out there please heed my warning.

BTW people, don`t have your automatic transmission fluid changed, unless you do it from the beginning when you buy your car. All that stuff floating around in there is from the friction plates and helps add friction that the plates have lost. If you do have it changed on a high mileage car it will start slipping within a week.

*Edit* Also if you have automatic transmission work done that requires them to change the fluid. While they have the transmission out you might as well have them rebuild it. Because if you don`t it is going to start slipping(this is on cars with 70k miles or so).

yeah i`m pretty sure this happened to me. I went to get my tires alligned and the guy said it didn`t need it after keeping it for a day and charging me $40. I went to my trusted mechanic a month ago and he said the allignment was WAY out of line. Now my car drives great. BEWARE OF SHITTY MECHANIC SCAMMERS!!! (was not jiffy lube i went to but a local shop)

You are exactly right, my friend. At Just Brakes on South Stephanie St. in Las Vegas, NV where I live, I went in to have their "replace pads and shoes and turn the rotors and drums for $99.00" service done. I told them I didn`t know anything about cars which isn`t true, just to see what would happen. I watched as they mindlessly took all four wheels off my car and tore the brakes completely apart at all four wheels then invited me into the shop. Once inside, they started talking about how all the parts needed to be replaced, using all sorts of jargon they thought I didn`t understand. They reccomended I have EVERY major component of my brake system replaced. When I said no, the man told me that he wouldn`t be able to repair my car and I had 2 chioces: pay for the repairs or call a tow truck. I told him that I had asked for a certain service and that was all I was paying for. He told me that it was "against the law" for him to put "bad parts" back on my vehicle. So I asked to borrow his phone book to call a tow truck. Instead of calling a tow truck, I called a lawyers office and put the call on speaker phone. When he heard the receptionist answer the phone, he told me to leave or he was calling the police. After I told that if he called the police they would arrive to find him in a bloody pool in the floor and me and my car gone, he made me sign some sort of waiver stating that I wouldn`t hold them responsible if my brakes failed. I signed it and he did the $99.00 service. That was two years ago and my brakes work just lovely. Oh and by the way my repair bill was in excess of $1400.00 had I let him do what he wanted which was replace rotors, drums, calipers, spring kits, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, brake lines, bolt kits, adjusters, pads and shoes. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Bunch of hustling thugs working at Jiffylube. Every time I go for oil change. They always RECOMMEND other repairs but when I go to my dealer they tell me otherwise. Now that I think about it, I`m not even sure they even do oil change. FUCK! I`m going to dealer first thing in the morning.

Never go to places like that!! Don`t go to precision, purrrfect auto, just brakes, jiffy lube. DON"T GO ANY OF THSE BIG CHAIN PLACES!

You have to find the small, specialized mechanic shops. Performance places are sometimes good. Also, look for names such as Earl`s Transmissions, Big Joe`s Auto Care, u know what i mean. Small mom and pop places treat you the best.

i brought my car in for tire rotation and transmission flush a few weeks ago to flagship or whatever its called and after they do it my start has started to shake at higher speeds. i take it back for them to look at and they just tell me other things that need to be repaired, instead of fixing their error. fuck them.
