In Suriname (and among some Surinamers in Holland) it`s quite common for women to "sit" other women, even married women, and to form lesbian side relationships. These are called "Mati" and the men and husbands largely accept this. Kind of like this video, the men are seen as fathers and providers, but the Mati are seen as companions and lovers.

Men have their world; women have theirs. They come together to make families and to create the symbiotic relationships that men and women do (men are the bread-winners; women cook, clean and child-bear). But in terms of where women seek much of their affection, and even sex, it`s with other women.

Seems to work!

I do so thank you for the milk of your Christian kindness and...understanding(?). I tend to prefer boy-milk, however :P

If I were at all "insecure" about my sexuality, however, I wouldn`t be here. The internet in general, and even Spiked, is not very nice to Queers. I`m hardly insecure, though, if anything just the opposite.

As a Queer, I think it`s important to give voice to that often ignored perspective. As a professional researcher who studies these issues, I like to throw in bit of trivia like about the Mati above or the tranny women in my upload, that folks mightn`t have heard about but might find interesting. And as a Gay man married to a woman, a husband, father, but someone who identifies as something other than "straight", I like to show ways of being Queer that aren`t typical, Gay-Hairdresser-On-Fire, sit-com stereotypes.

The overall message being, there are choices out there if we make them, i.e. *create* them.
