March 24, 2008 - 3TV was conducting an interview when a perp takes off with a car right in front of the Gilbert Police Department. Officers quickly pursue the suspect.

"Police talked about the suspect making some dangerous moves just a few miles down the road. The chase was called off a short time later. Officers did catch up with the guy who is now facing some very serious charges."

Hard to say why he didn`t join the chase. It may be something as simple as the car was being used as a backdrop for filming and he didn`t have the keys.

It`s puzzling how these cops are supposed to make us feel safe...they all have military crewcuts, drive around in cars with windows tinted black, and they talk to the public as though we are schoolchildren. Remember, these guys probably grew up playing cowboys and indians and now they`ve found an outlet to indulge in their childhood dreams. It`s precisely why most cops in America would pursue a dangerous suspect through busy streets at breakneck speeds and risk fatalities rather than call the chase off. Assholes with authoritarian complexes.

What scares me is the trend of ex-military entering into police forces. Bad enough we have doughnut-eating billy bob`s with a license to kill, tasering people for bad attitudes...now we have people coming home from Iraq after laying waste to that country, wanting to make our streets "safer".
