Hitchens is a giant when it comes to debating.

You can see that he was granted such deference by everyone on the panel because of that.

Such a relief to hear the odd SANE conversation amongst Americans actually make it on TV.

Mostly it`s just crap and twaddle from people who are woefully uninformed. I like Hitchins` point that there`s no reason an atheist couldn`t make it. Would be a fight though.

I like that they can have nice civil conversations about these things
im fortunate that I can do the same with my friends, im by far the most liberal of them, i believe in a socialized state, womens rights, ect. but even if we dont agree we dont tear the other down.

thats the difference between us (Canadians) and the US. in the US its either right or wrong, there cannot.... CANNOT be two opinions accepted as different but valid amongst the respective belief systems.

Omaba is right in trying to open dialogue, but I dont know if it`ll work. NA is stuck with a bunch of (different kind mind you) puritains, and the best way to deal with them, according to the Brittish, is send them overseas.

Hmm I had previously heard that Harry Shearer is a Scientologist. From this though I`d say thats not true. They tend to stay away from topics such as Lord Xenu and L Ron. Hitchens is always a pleasure to listen to.

I may not like nor agree with Hitchens from time to time (politics mostly), but when he talks about religion I listen closely to what he has to say.
His arguments comes from a lifetime of opposition to organized/state/public religion and study of its horrible history in opposition to knowldege/science (not compatible with the ancient supernatural world, gods word), and goverment theocracies. This guy does not take any bullshit from religious douchebags! :) Search `hitchens falwell` on youtube and you will find out why.

In 2002 the Vaticant invited Hitchens to be the Devil`s advocate testifying agains Mother Teresa`s beatification/`sainthood`. That is.. representing the Devil lol?! which they take seriously. According to Hitchens, she is the biggest emotional con job of the 20th century.

It`s a discussion mostly. But one just have to agree with Hitch that we should`nt resign ourself from the hope of having a president not being too certain about something he/she can`t possibly know, hence the leap of faith.
Keep an open mind, in evolutionary terms the human existence has so far been just a quick flash, and we have alot of growing to do still.
One is growing out of supersticion :P

Out of all the religions they mentioned the only 2 that continue to pull out numbers and consistently draw masses and are not struggling with loss of membership are the Seventh Day Adventists and the Mormons. One is considered a Cult by the World Association of Protestant Pastors (Mormonism) And the other is feared because they deviate from the Sunday Sabbath.


World Church Organizations Catholics to Lutheran alike are a dieing breed.

Don`t look for the God whose people condemn others for their differences. Look to those who accept all for the simple fact we are all brothers and sisters created in the image of the One God.

Politicians are guilty all of the same thing. They follow the money. With religion in mind they are all failing in the eyes of the Almighty. "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven." Matt 9: 16-30

So vote on your moral conscience and for the one who you feel will continue to lead this country with our freedom in mind. We are all doomed if we vote based solely on Religious Affiliation.

I was raised Seventh Day Adventist and today I profess to be Agnostic, my belief in God does not have a single ounce of weight on my choice for the next leader of our nation. My disbelief in organized religion however allows me to truly study and understand the level of heretical bias churches have.
