More doom and gloom hype from that once proud organization. It`s not that what they say isn`t true, it`s that it isn`t anything new. This is how viruses have always evolved...and the whole globalization thing has been going on for four hundred years now.

West Nile isn`t a particular dangerous virus as it kills relatively few people and local populations of both birds and humans become immune to it within two years. It runs its course and that`s that...but don`t let that little factoid stop National Geographic from spreading the fear.

^^ I didnt get the impression from them that West Nile is the end of the world. What is being said here is that there is an increase in viral globalization. We get around a lot more, and there are a lot more of us than there used to be. Its just common sense to know that a virus spreads easier when you have higher concentrations of people. Its also common sense to know that now virii can easily spread globally, thanks to planes and boats and their increased use. Thats all I got from this.

Believe me, I understand what you are saying, and I agree. Not about this video though. You want hype (propaghanda), go watch CNN and fox news cover H5N1 (bird flu.) They`ll have you believe we`re all doomed, its just to keep your eyes off the ball.

wow a whole 177 people killed from west nile in a year, lets spray tons of pesticide all over our cities and ecosystems to erradicate this scourge...meanwhile we can cause more long term damage in doing so, or take resources away from much bigger problems like lyme disease

Informative but really disappointed me, there must be more than this: 30 years, 30 mysterious/possibly deadly diseases from ALL over the world and a blame on globalization, and we only get 3:49 of it? No, this is about the Nile Virus and doesn`t fit the descrpition. I demand MOAR.
