In my opinion, a scientific theory in something which seeks to explain an observation, much as Darwin`s Evolution seeks to explain how life may have originated from simple, one-celled organisms, and developed over time into all of the complex life-forms we observe today. In contrast, Intelligent Design seeks to explain what we observe in nature by excusing what we do not yet understand. Instead of excusing our inadequacies, we should be challenged by them.

Throughout the history of known civilization, we have slowly developed an ever-more comprehensive understanding of the world. In early times, we lacked an understanding of even basic concepts and so turned to religion as a way of excusing our lack of comprehension. As the years have gone by, science has increased the breadth of knowledge to a point where religion is finding it harder and harder to survive. An altercation of this sort is inevitable for any civilization which yearns to expand their scientific horizons, but which has also relied upon religion for so long.

Further, I do not believe that the philosophy of life is a religious question either. Religion, in my opinion should be considered an “evil”, which slows the progress of mankind, provokes conflict where there are no other disagreements other than “my god is better than yours”, creates barriers where none exist, and is a detriment to society as a whole (if you are going to argue that religion does good around the world, then I world argue that even Hitler was good for the German people). We do not learn morality from religion because religion is a man-made device, and, as such takes its morality lessons from us. Our sense of morality is an evolved trait because it is advantageous to cooperate with your neighbor than initiate conflict with them. This one example contrasts the survival concept “strength in numbers” with the religious commandment “honor thy neighbor”. What do you think came first: the ability to communicate religious beliefs, or pure survival instinct?

So then, what good is religion? Two things, which only the religiously powerful and a few other enlightened people understand: money and power.

The only thing you need to know about creationism is that it has no valid evidence for being true, evolution does. Creationism has some argument why evolution should be untrue, however just because something isn`t true doesn`t mean that your point of view is true or that the opposing idea is completely untrue. All science work to give a better understanding of how the universe works, so saying "We know exactly how Event A happened" is almost always wrong since there is always something we don`t know.

Also if God was real and did all of these pretty things and told a person living in stone age techonology, do you really think he would talk with terms that we have only had in our language for a couple of years? He would probably talk to them as we would with a child.

Sad times when people turn their back on God.

More so that you are children that think you are provoking some new and original questions or point of views. Do you not think these questions have been asked by people far before your time?

These are the days of the "me" generation, a generation of youth that is as much ignorant as they are arrogant.

You greatly undermine God. If one were able to understand the all the complexity of this world and how it all seems to have order, instruction and guidance on what to do when to do. You`ll see it takes far greater faith to believe that this is just chance than it was intended.

For a change, instead of voting down those whose oppnion challenges that of your own vote it up and try to understand the other perspective. Don`t run or hide from it. Having done this, reflect on why you might have before voted down comments that did not agree with your view. You shall see that to an atheist the prospect of God is easier with the ideology "Out of sight, out of mind." Humorously, that is the irony of a stereotypical atheist. Who talks so much of thinking rationally and with their mind, yet do everything in their power to not talk about the one thing that the understand the least.

Euthphyro: I couldn`t agree more. I`ve only seen this on this website though, an attack on God and Religion. These attackers think they`re smart with it by trying to be subtle, but the reality is that their intent is out there in the open.

Many here can`t seem to truly grasp the notion of God, joy, and awareness of one selves role of interacting with others in this world. It`s a sad existence without God, no real purpose in life, existing to simply keep on existing.

In Biology, under which the theory of evolution falls, the word "Theory" is used much in the same manner as "Law" is Used in Physics or Chemistry. This is the main misunderstanding people make with the theory of evolution in that people interpret "Theory" in the context normally used in everyday life, where as "Theory" used in Biology is use to explain a model that is accepted accepted and has evidence to back it up.

You dont see Atheist or evolutionists burning down pictures that they dont approve off and you dont see them getting angry at someone who do not have the same believes as them
Religion should be a personal thing and not in any way influence politics,science or anything else that affects somoene else then you
The funny part is America[USA] who is founded partialy by Antagonist,Atheists AND Has it written in their own Constitution "FREEDOM FROM RELIGION" Is one of the most religios countries
