I don`t care if someone is great at golf or not but you gotta admire anyone who can be under that much pressure and still perform to a high and exacting degree.

@ Trigga: I reckon Michael Schumacher was as successful in his sport... in fact there are a lot of other examples. He`s an athlete who`s very good at his sport, no need to turn him into anything else.

I love golf. People think i`m odd in saying that, but in no other sport is the skill curve so great from amateur to professional as in golf.

I still do not agree that Tiger Woods is the #1 athlete in the world. Only because they have used this word too loosely, athlete.
Tiger is the best golfer of all time and easily the most dominant player in his sport right now. I believe that focus and concentration, combined with great skill and knowledge of clubs, courses etc. make a great golfer.
However using hockey as an example I feel that a player skating in front of the goal with an 85mph puck coming at him as he reacts quickly tipping the puck between his legs into a goal shows much more ATHLETICISM than a golf shot.
It is way too hard to call Tiger the greatest athlete in the world because, while I will never surpass the amateur level in any sport I`ve played (Hockey, Soccer, Golf, Baseball) I would like to see Tiger beat me in a foot race!, or maybe try some reactionary tests, competing at real time where he cannot take 8 minutes to line up a shot, consult his caddy, look over course maps + distances..
I want some opinions from people who also play a variety of sports.
