"...lacked the commitment to allocate the resources" is Michio Kaku`s way to say "money".

Imagine what could be done with all the money being wasted in Iraq right now; put that money towards research into new energy sources and the oil that so much of this fighting is about would be almost a moot point.

Hell, you wouldn`t even need much in the way of innovation; the money wasted in Iraq could probably provide for low-tech solar panels on every roof on every house and every building in most, if not all, major US cities - with energy savings that would pay for the labour and supplies in no time.

Nay-sayers always insist that you can`t just throw money at problems. But if you`re *smart* about it, there really are investments that pay off.

Or we could just keep blowing our money (oh, and each other) up.

an infinite power source isnt as profitable as a finite one. first theyre going to extract all the petrol there is and make as much profit as they can and only then, these kind of power sources will be used

my 2 cents

The question now is how much bigger does it have to be to be self sustaining.

The answer...

As big as the goddamn sun.

Trouble is both russians and americans government have experimented nuclear fusion in the 80s and neither of them will released their findings.

I`m not sure that`s true because the European Union, Japan, China, Korea, Russia and the USA have joint forces to build ITER, An experimental fusion reactor, in Cadarache, France.

How will usable energy be extracted from these things once they are made self sustaining? Will a window be made to allow plasma to escape and power a turbine? Any ideas or resources?

^It works by operating a turbine, just like most other power plants do today.

7homas: What makes you say that?

aztec_warrior_: Currently most work is done by governments. Very few governments would say no to an energy source like this. Energy sources like these are INSANELY more profitable a long term plan, oil will only last for a few hundred years, this can keep going for BILLIONS of years.

the only problem i see is how to convert our entire infrastructure into an electric-based economy. Doing so would require countless barrels of oil, and we all know that`s gonna get really expensive really soon. Catch-22 anyone?

^If electricity is abundant and cheep we could use electrolysis to make hydrogen as a fuel for cars, heating, and so on.

Nuclear Fusion is an enormous lie! Whats really inside those "nuclear reactors" are the hamsters doing all the hard work on their wheel.
