Could you give the name of the full documentary or series? These are great and there has to be more.

Just post the whole doco - or episodes.

3 minute bytes are ok - but it`s spiked - you can post something 40 minutes long.

Post the whole thing - it`s obvious there`s an ongoing narrative of Michio`s we`re missing out on by only seeing bits of the whole out of context.

How do you measure the strength of something that small.

uhh Unsmashable cars would be bad. Very bad. You want the cars to warp and bend as much as possible so most of the energy is used up there rather than effecting you (say by moving you out the window really fast)

Another great thing about the nanotubes is the good heat conductivity. Imagine a CPU cooling system with something that moves the heat away 15 times as fast as pure copper.

You calculate the strength by knowing the configuration of the atoms and the strength of the bonds. You would have to have some sort of knock down factor because the tubes would not be perfect.
You could probably also perform some sort of nano-tensile test. Do it several times to get an average and the standard deviation then use a statistical basis to determine a proper allowable strength. viola.

One of my professor is working in this field and showed us how he fabricates them in lab...crazy stuff and he`s applying them in a field called artificial muscles...imagine muscles as strong as steal
