^No. It`s called the double split. Basically the act of observing somehow affects the results.

Here`s a cool cartoon that explains it nicely.

Yes but are light photons waves or a particles?
And what happened to Schrödinger`s cat?

Photons are both.
They are particles when you see them but are in a wave like probability flux when you can`t. So they are like "waveicles".

Schrödinger`s cat is still dead and living comfortably in a house in Birmingham.. unless you open the front door. Then he`s dead.

I thought Schrödinger was a character my physics teacher made up along with the other animals and people for example questions >.<. Anyone care to explain?

its obvious to me, just like looking between a small hole you make with your thumbs and index fingers (that will make sense for all us half blind peope out there)

It`s always cool to think that quantum physics changes depending on whether or not you are observing it. Like the deal with gravitons where in order for you to observe them, you can`t. Just have to let the colliding particle energy that randomly dissappears to determine if there was a graviton present.

Maxmadx, I`m sorry, that`s not it. What you describe is simply because you can still see through a whole the size of the `diameter` of a lightwave. As long as your eye-lens focuses on that exact spot.
Check Wikipedia`s pages about optics and lenses to understand what I mean.

Quantum mechanics are about every partile being in every state, every position and every direction. Just simply what we expect from that particle, or rather `choose` it to be, is what we will observe from it.

In this experiment, we expect the projection to be incredibly small and if we look closely at the beam, as we expect it to be, it really is that size.
But in reality, as shown by the truthful projection, it`s all over the place.

Heisenberg`s Uncertainty Principle: (delta)x(delta)p >= h/2, where x = position, p = momentum (mass x velocity) and h = Planck`s constant.

The principle essentially states that as you start focusing on the particle`s position, you lose track of the particle`s velocity and vice versa. You can also convert the formula to accommodate for energy and time.

Many people use the Uncertainty Principle and it has been used to explain many things in several movies and TV shows. Nonetheless, there are still people who argue with it and are constantly trying to disprove it. There`s tons more info on Wiki and all over the web.
