Fuck! This guy gets ousted because he had a whore on the side. Seriously, it was JUST sex. It`s not as if he had an ongoing secret relationship, which in fact would make him unable to run the state effectively and with the peoples` trust. All he wanted was some kinky action he knew his uptight wife wouldn`t go for. Is it REALLY that big of a deal?

^ The sex industry is the world`s oldest profession. My position on the subject derives from the fact that there is NOTHING wrong with paying for sex. We all pay for sex in one way or the other. We take a girl out to dinner, the movies, etc in the hopes that we`ll get some action.

Just because one person or group of people disagree with the actions of another, that is NO reason to outlaw it. Morality can NEVER be legislated. Every time it is, it has an adverse affect on society as a whole.

Krea, the only difference here is the fact that Monica Lewinsky was infatuated with President Clinton, and Clinton preyed upon that to get what he wanted. Which was sex. That is FAR worse then simply handing over a couple grand for a fine piece. But what Congress and the far right did to the President was despicable and should leave a man and his private affairs out of the public eye, as was the case here.

Just more proof of just how backwards the world (and especially the US) is: if this guy went sport hunting regularly, killing animals for no other reason than to hang their heads on his wall, he`d be seen as a "sportsman" - a "real" man; if this guy was a veteran of some war during which he`d killed other human beings for some lofty, flaggy purpose, he`d be a "hero".

But because he has some *sex*, he has to resign. If anyone was hurt by his actions, that`s between him and them. The *only* issue I would have with the guy would be his hypocricy if he were drafting legislation to increase penalties for prostitution while enjoying it himself. Not that it would be unusual.

I`ve known sex workers. Many are happy, healthy and enjoy their work. Prostitution should be legal. What`s more, society needs to grow the hell up about sex. I would *so* love it if a politician who was caught with a whore, or with another man`s dick in his mouth just said "So?! WTF?! So I like sex! So I like getting blown! F*** off!"

Oh, the torch-bearing, rabble rousing, bible-thumping mobs would call for his head, but someone so needs to tell them off.

The *only* thing that should be illegal about sex is telling other people what they can and can`t do when no one is being hurt. It`s illegal to force people to do things sexually; it should be just as illegal to force people *not* do to things sexually that are consensual just because someone, someplace is offended.

This guy has a wife, and 3 daughters! That`s disgusting, why wouldn`t you think this was a big deal? From what I`ve learned of the guy the last 2 days is that he`s a great preacher of morality. I don`t like people that preach morality, especially religious figures - they think they`re higher and mightier than the rest of us, and because they`re so "flawless," they`ve monopolized the pulpit and conversation about what is APPROPRIATE behavior, both in society and in the home.

I AM FUCKING GLAD SPITZER`S FALLEN. I agree prostitution isn`t really a big deal, but I don`t have any daughters. This guy does; so how would he feel if any one of them suddenly sold their bodies to some loser preaching his same ideologies but suffers because his wife isn`t giving him the RIM JOB he feels he deserves. Fuck him.

I myself think prostitution should be legal, but I want to see this guy go to jail. He should lose more than his job. Everybody else that gets caught up in this shit loses their jobs and goes to jail, and so should he.

I agree, he`s a hypocrite. But he shouldn`t have to lose his job over it. Neither should Larry Craig, but what they should do is, shake off the negative stigma attached with their behaviors and embrace themselves for who they are.
