The Human Eye is NOT Irreducibly Complex...

Is the really irreducibly complex? Or can it be useful in it's less evolved states?

good to know intelligence still has a foothold in the world, and has not been crushed entirely by "the invisible diety did it" people. for me, this stuff is entirely common sense. evolution is all around us, everywhere, every day, and obviously so. i can`t understand how people are so willing to deny what they see with their own eyes in order to force a false reality into their world.. how weak.

Strange, did anybody noticed how his eyes change in the last 2 seconds?

you can do this already focusing your eye intensely. when you squint one eye till its almost close and hold something very tiny to it you would not believe what distinction you can see. I myself took a tiny piece of confetti, held it up to my right eye my dominant one and squinted into it, had a friend stand behind me and hold up a number of fingers and it was almost like looking into a mirror and saw the number of fingers easily, and i know he is also talking about see amazingly clear at distance i just was letting you know that our eyes are already capable of some amazing things/

If anyone doesn`t realize this is another point to the theory of evolution.

Stage 1: "by which a flat patch of light sensitive cells on an animal skin..."

Why does it always start there? I want to know how those light sensitive cells came to existence.

It`s not your eyes, it`s your visual cortex. In fact, that part of the brain is possibly more impressive than our conciousness. It stiches together two positionally separate eyeballs, which each dilate dynamically, which also have a frickin optic nerve blocking 10% of each eyes` view...

Your brain literally makes up about 20% of what we see. NOT TO MENTION the fact that the "zoom" or focus, of our eyes is not physically controlled by the eye, but by the brain.

I could go on, but i think you see my point. The eye is about as complex as your hand or foot, it`s the brain that`s really awesome.
But don`t try explaining that to anyone with a religion. You`ll have blank stares before you say "the eye."

no, keep asking questions until science does have an answer.

that comment applies to religion, dont ask questions because god did it.

Almost all our skin is light sensitive (we can tell if sunlight is on that part of skin or not)

exactly - science is nothing but finding answers to questions we don`t know the answer to. By using incredible robust methodology.

Skiba`s comment seems - at odds with the basic understanding of what science is, and the interweb it brought us for him use to comment about it inaccurately.

"I want to know how those light sensitive cells came to existence."

It`s called mutations. Basically you start with an animal that is totally blind, which has an offspring. That offspring then has a mutation which causes higher levels of a light sensitive chemical to be stored in one place or more, they where probably used for something else at first, and then the chemicals moved closer to the skin and became more and more efficient. One day the storage was at the ultimate balance where it could both tell light from dark and could still preform the original task. Then it started to grow bigger since a larger single mass of the chemical was better than a smaller one. By time the task of the light sensitive area was originally intended for became simply worth less to the survival of the animal and the eyes could start to grow like the video showed.

So eyes where probably used for something else at first and moved onto being something else. Much like wings and hand are both descendant from fins but today have very different functions.
