rations... screw rations! 1 month of overdosed of redbull! >,<

btw what`s with the m16? The G36 is better in every way and it uses the same rounds. Is it because the SAS prefers a cheaper gun or what?!

^Personally I`d take an AK - you can acquire ammunition at the spot in many places and that thing can survive hell and still shoot.

Btw, that FN MINIMI is designated as M249 SAW. Looks like its a MK1 judging by its stock. Also that Browning isn`t that much of a man-stopper - thats why the SAS are trained to fire two shots simultaneously, first in the torso then up to the head. If I were to take a pistol, then it would be at least a .40, preferably a .45.

very good post, i had just learned of these guys in the video game SOCOM, brittish special forces yea? These guys are so bad ass, they could take out a entire terroist camp and still have time for a spot of tea and crumpets. Although if i were to vote who is more badass, id put money on U.S. Navy Seals. Not just cuz im American but because i have a friend who is a navy seal and dont ever want to go what he went through. Im hoping these guys are retired as well, because they look kinda old.

@Onisame, the g36 is a relatively new gun. do u expect large regiments to exchange their main rifle every time something new comes out? if this were the case, they would have had the steyr aug, the g36 and then moved onto bushmaster acr. this isnt how things are done.

america... the place that spends more money on military than the rest of the world combined still uses the m16/m4.

to the commenter below me: bullet proof helmet? no such thing. last i checked a .50 cal could penetrate armored vehicles. what chance does a helmet have. as for bullets becoming obsolete. absoultely not, never. nothing, short of a rocket, has the penetrating power of a bullet. kinetic energy is a wonderous thing.

@Onisama: The SAS uses a variety of different weapons, the G36 included, depending on the situation. If there was a main weapon of the SAS, it would probably be the C8 carbine.

The two guys whose faces are shown probably are retired, I doubt they would give away the identities of active-service SAS troops.

For your information guys:
* These people are retired S.A.S. operatives. Two have gone public while the other two are disguised as they are recently retired.
* Mac (the guy with the moustache) was the guy seen jumping from balcony to balcony and conducting an assault from the window of the Iranian Embassy in London when hostages were taken in London and the place was under siege in 1980. When the terrorists killed a hostage, the SAS took over. Not one civilian was killed in the assault, however all but one of the terrorists were killed.
* The SAS are the worlds first elite special fighting regiments. As stated in the beginning, ALL other special fighting forces have derived from the S.A.S and the S.B.S.. including the US Navy SEALS who received training and consultation.
* The S.A.S. were first introduced fully during WWII as the desert rats. Following massive success with their unorthodox but vastly superior tactics, the 1st Panzer etc, were withered.
* The S.A.S. stands for "Special Air Service" and is Army, whilst the S.B.S. stands for "Special Boat Service" and is Navy. Both are masters or special operations however the S.B.S. are not as widely publicised.
* The S.A.S consists of four key roles, Air assault, Water Assault, Mobility and Climbers. All skills when combined, make up a Sabre force. Otherwise, the S.A.S perform missions in four man teams with each soldier having various skills that compliment the other soldiers.
* The S.A.S. selection training is widely known as the worlds toughest. It consists of extremely gruelling long treks in the wilderness with a 60lbs bergin (supplies bag) and your belt, ammo and weapons. Stage two is survival training where you are hunted down by specialised S.A.S. trackers and dogs for two weeks straight. Stage three is your capture. You are captured, beaten and interrogated to push your mental strength to the limit. Once all three stages are complete, you are successfully selected to join the S.A.S. regiment, however you are on a years probation and the strenuous training is constant throughout your time in the regiment.
* The S.A.S. are trained to make use of every weapon known, and everything that can be used as a weapon.
* It has been known, from S.A.S. operations in Ireland when combating the IRA, for S.A.S. operatives to remain in position, collecting intelligence and observing the enemy for a period of over two weeks. This would be done using full camouflage with spotting equipment and rifle sights. It would also include night time reconnaissance. At times, enemy targets have walked over operatives who are fully camouflaged in undergrowth, without being spotted.

* As an example of the S.A.S. effectiveness, in Afghanistan, a CIA run prison of captured Taliban combatants was taken over by the prisoners. Many Iraqi prison guards and soldiers died as the prisoners took control of the area and boxed themselves in for the fight. The CIA ordered troops into the prison to recapture position, however they failed as they were too heavily defended. The CIA ordered an airstrike that led to more friendly deaths as the co-ordinates were wrong and the missile, although still causing massive damage, landed very close to the siege lines. The situation was resolved when the US called on nearby S.A.S. soldiers who arrived in day three of the siege. They performed and orchestrated an assault that led to most of the enemy being killed, or surrendering. This was performed using specialised techniques developed and perfected using their "killbox" technique. This event was also documented as a few news crews were at the place from the time the prisoners revolted, to the time it was cleared.
* The "Killbox" technique, is a technique performed by an S.A.S soldier during training until mastered. It is the ability to deal with the enemy in a split second by picturing boxes in your mind when in confrontation. Each box represents a small section of your sight that in turn improves your targeting. You will see this technique used more commonly in a "Killroom" scenario, where the S.A.S. storm a room and kill all enemy, without harming the friendlies.
* The "Flashbang" was created by the S.A.S. as a means of quick assault. During S.A.S. training, the flashbangs are constantly used, therefore a typical S.A.S. soldier is unphased by the effects of the flashbang, and this is why they do not become disorientated during an assault.
* The S.A.S. are wholly unique. They can perform whole missions without the need for orders, and can re-plan a mission without the need for withdrawal. As they consist of other soldiers with various skills, constantly honed and perfected, they are self sufficient.
* If you are a high ranked soldier and you successfully become a member of the S.A.S. regiment, your rank is not carried over. Every recruit to the regiment starts as a private, but obviously has a lot of military experience already.
* During each S.A.S. mission, a craft kit is carried at all times. This consists of coloured ribbons, pens etc. This is vital so a successful assault plan can be devised using the kit (as an example, the blue ribbon indicates a river while the pen is used for marking stones and positioning them as targets etc).
* The S.A.S. are renowned as offering the best protection available for diplomats and other V.I.P.`s that may be at risk.
* During the assault on the Iranian Embassy, Mack`s (the guy on this video with the moustache) assault mask became loose and he inhaled a large amount of tear gas. Mack vomited inside his mask but continued with the mission regardless.
