A Message From Jules - The Robot

There is a debate about whether this is fully scripted or if there are AI routines involved. What do you think? This is from the same group who made the Einstein robot, Hanson Robotics.

Hahaha I just laughed my ass off during all the silence. It was like watching an idiot lose focus then remember you`re still in the room in front of them so they look back and smile like a retard.

Hard to say. I mean technically AI routines are scripts.

Humans have "routines" in the sense that we have similar behaviour. We all acknowledge that Scarlett Johansen has an awesome rack (gay or straight). So that means we have "routines". (Notice I address my comment to men since men are more likely to visit spikedhumor than women... that behaviour could be considered a "coded routine" in our brains)

The question is how complex are the routines in reality versus what Hanson Robotics is claiming the robot is capable of. Bear in mind that Japanese scientists programmed a robot that could wrestle (it`s on here somewhere). The question is what was the robot designed for and what is it capable of? Hell most FPS games on the X-Box exhibit complex behaviour in their reaction to players decisions. If you`ve ever seen an economics equation you`d think this is child`s play.

I`d have to say there was some serious coding behind this seemingly life like replica but it`s quite telling that it took us s couple hundred thousand years to make this since homosapiens first walked the earth.

I agree with Chuckus, but no matter how goofy it looked, there was probably quite a bit of programming involved. I wonder if we will ever be able to get to a primitive all purpose type of AI. Even with an intelligence of a household pet ( our dogs ) would be an accomplishment. I am inclined to think that we need a totally diffrent type of paradigm in programming in order to achieve this, obviously "list processing" paradigm wasn`t good enough, neural network paradigm is too non-trivial to implement, are there any new paradigms out there to attempt to accomplish this type of thing? I wish those guys lots of luck :)
