This is almost as sad as the Cartoon wars South Park episode, I can`t believe I never realized what family guy was until then. I still watch it, and I still laugh, but it`s just never been the same since then.

I guess I just don`t pay enough attention to detail. This is the first time I`ve seen this as well.

It was technique used by programmers in the early days. Because they could only put some much information onto one cartridge, they had to be inventive and figure out how to make the most of it. One way was to reuse a sprite and give it a different color palette. That why Final Fantasy had so many monster that looked the same, but were different colors. They did that to have room for more levels(Why they still do it in Final Fantasy, I don`t know. Tradition?).
