During the filming of John Q. most of it was shot in my home town. In the scene where he drops off his kid at school I can see from my back window and is where I went from Kingergarden to grade 6.. anyhow.. I was at the shooting.. long story short.. Denzel stepped on my fucking foot and pretended it didn`t happen..
Then he took one of those Scooters everyone had at the time from some kid and rode it around the school parking lot..
That was the day I decided to hate black people..

Denzel Washington finally won an oscar and it was well deserved. In my top 5 of best actors of all time. Always a pleasure to see his movies.

It was the Black Oscars that year, duh.
Whoopie was the host, Halle Berry won for nudity and Sidney Poitier was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award.
Handing Denzel his Oscar for a shitastic performance was just meant to be. They tried to make up for his previous snubs- Malcolm X and The Hurricane.

Anyway, I hate this overrated movie and it really made me dislike Denzel. I sort of feel bad for him because after his Oscar win, the man hasn`t had a decent hit. Please don`t tell me "AMERICAN GANGSTER!!!!!!!!11" - that movie was a pile of cliché shit.

Here`s hoping I get at least 65 negative votes by the end of this week.

I agree with some of the stuff Jayne is saying. Denzel has been deserving of the oscar well before he actually won it and for better roles. Halle Berry did do a good job but i don`t think as well as some of the others. And you can`t take anything away from Poitier he deserved his Oscar, and it was long over due. That was a special night.

I like training day but i liked some of Denzel`s other work better. I haven`t seen American Gangster.

Why anyone would listen to the opinion of someone who calls this movie overrated is beyond me.

It was a fantastic movie with a strong plotline and great dialog. It delivered in spades everything it meant to and the international markets as well as the DVD release proves that it was much more than hype that sold this movie.

Jayne`s movie taste is based on delusions (overrated has a specific meaning, none of which applies to this movie) and a yearning to be unique, just like everyone else.
