its not really risking his life sense the rays seem to know him and they know he has food for them... stingrays are like your wife and they CAN throw a knife at you but usually dont...

yea honestly sting rays are not very dangerous, only reason they killed steve is cause the barb went into his freaking heart, sting ray related fatalities are about the same amount of fatalities, from dieing cause you "risked your life" running down a flight of steps and falling and breaking ur neck.

silentsky: yes.... you were the only one waiting.

Stingray`s aren`t vicious sea creatures that will attack you at a moments notice. They tend to attack mostly if they feel threatened, or get hurt (usually.... stepped on by someone who doesn`t notice it, due to the stingray`s habit of hiding under the sand). Taking Steve Irwin`s situation into account.... it fell under the former category..... feeling threaten. You can even look it up on CNN. They clearly say that he was swimming under water, and he went over the top of a stingray that was burried in the sand.

Anyone who says stingrays are vicious..... should really visit some of the more major aquarium`s. quite a few actually have tanks where you can pet stingrays. sometimes they even have someone who works at the aquarium go into the tank, and kinda hold one of them somewhat closer to the surface so they are easier to touch. I know someone here is gonna wind up saying "well, they`ve lost their natural instinct to attack from being held in the tank for so long". If they were vicious from the get-go.... i highly doubt they`d give people the ability to touch them. too much of a risk if that was the case.
