From what I`ve seen on Discovery about lighting and people getting acquainted, it seems the majority of them do live to tell about it.

Remember the Myth busters episode where they test the Toung Ring/Lighting Myth? They show a video of a guy being hit by lightning, and then sitting up and talking about it and shit right after. His Toung ring having been blown out of his mouth..

Having said that, I don`t plan on being hit by lighting any time soon.. and I wonder if Kari Byron has a toung ring <.<

On a side note, I can imagine one`s balls would hurt sooo bad after a lightning strike...assuming they still work. I know people are in shock afterwards but when men get struck do they ever think "OMG my balls"?

a guy I worked with a couple of years ago was hit by lightning during a storm during summer. we were renovating a house when the storm hit everybody moved back into the kitchen and he stayed in the living room where there`s a 13 foot glass door opening. the lightning hit the tree in the back yard ran through the water and hit his exposed steel toe through the window. The window shattered all the power in the house went out and the transformers on the street blew and the guy hit the floor. his finger tips were burnt and his boots blew up. ran into another guy that worked with us 2 years later and he told me doctors said he was deteriorating from the inside.

yeah...... cause an electric fly swatter is EXACTLY like getting struck by lightning.

Lightning can do some seriously wicked shit to you.... that`s for sure. Like it says in the following link.... your typical industrial electrical shock is in the 20-63 kilovolt range, whereas a lightning strike is in the 300 kilovolt range. surprisingly, only 20% of lightning strike victims are killed immediately.

I was stuck about a year and half ago. It melted the pliers I had in my right hand and fried my watch (had a metal back on it). It blew out a disc in my back as well. I had to have surgery. The doctors said that it instantly dehydrated me and that my electrolytes were really low. Apparently, this can lead to gangrene and I was told to watch out for unusual muscle spasms and twitching for the next month. That made me overly paranoid but I was pretty much fine after that.

Lightening is not your friend.
