good follow up to the hubble gallery. and it answers my question about the photos. my understanding of this clip is the objects themselves are real, but they`re compilations of different images from different wavelenghts. the colors though and probably the focus and other properties are edited, not sure if the adjustments are "scientifically accurate" or not, anyone know?

The explanation given with the photo of the canyon and the sky is something photographers have been doing. It`s called HDR (High Dynamic Range) which is basically a composition of 3 or more photos.
