I used to be scared of spiders until i got a pet tarantula to face my fears. I had it about 2 months, watching it every day and seeing it hunt down its prey. After the 2 months where over I completely lost my arachnofobia. The other day i was lying on my bed and saw a 3 inch spider crawl right infront of my face and just looked at it and let it pass. Before I would have freaked out and not be able to sleep for weeks.

I havn`t gone so far as to get a pet tarrantula (though delt`s story is pretty awesome, I`ve got to admit), but one of the biggest things that`s helped me in dealing with my aversion to spiders is the realization that like 99% of `em can`t even really percieve us. Not properly, anyway.

We`re too big for them to comprehend as living creatures. For the most part they just see us as terrain.

my roomate in college once caught a black widow spider and put it in MY tupperware (nice of him eh?) Then the black widow laid eggs then the eggs hatched and we had around 200 or so black widows living in my tupperware... I told him i`d open it in his room if he didn`t get rid of it and buy me more tupperware.

Very mis informative. Black Widows HAVE NEVER killed a single human before, look it up. I got bitten by one, and freaked the hell out. I looked it up on maybe 10 different websites, and called my uncle (Doctor), and everything i found out lead to it being harmless.

Spiders CANNOT kill a human being. Some might get dizzy, some might get a fever because the body is fighting the venom, but thats where it stops.

It`s a small percentage, but it`s still a statistic.
