Writers Guild Ends Strike

LOS ANGELES - Striking Hollywood writers are going back to work.

The Writers Guild of America said its members voted Tuesday to end their devastating, three-month strike that brought the entertainment industry to a standstill.

Writers will go back to work Wednesday after voting in Beverly Hills and New York.

"At the end of the day, everybody won. It was a fair deal and one that the companies can live with, and it recognizes the large contribution that writers have made to the industry," said Leslie Moonves, chief executive officer of CBS Corp.

Moonves was among the media executives who helped broker a deal after talks between the guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers collapsed in acrimony.

One winner in the vote was the Academy Awards, which can now be staged Feb. 24 without the threat of pickets or a boycott by actors that would have dulled the glamour of Hollywood's signature celebration.

The strike's end would allow many hit series to return this spring for what's left of the current season, airing anywhere from four to seven new episodes. Shows with marginal audience numbers may not return until fall or could be canceled.

HOPEFULLY ALL THE PRIMETIME SHOWS ON NBC and CBS will begin to write stuff making fun of the Scientology bullshit. They`ve missed a lot of opportunities so far.

Man I hate shit like this.

There is something called choice and consequence. Simply throwing money at a problem wont make it better, it will just end up making a bigger problem. People take advantage of the social systems and making it bigger will simply make it a bigger target for shitfucks to take advantage of.

How do I know this, I own a business that looks over a small strip mall that is crack central. A block away is the homeless shelter and 99% of the guys there have nothing wrong with them except cronic laziness and they like to drink and smoke crack. My wife did volunteer work at the shelter and can verify my claims.

where I live as well the jobless rate is at a 33 year low and businesses are closing all over the place, not from lack of business but from lack of employees. So if one of these fucktards says they cant get a job, they are simply lying and too lazy.

Its a a fucking insult to my dead mother who always told me to work hard so that you can take pride in your life. I have had my share of mountain sized adversity in my life to deal with and I dealt with it, why cant these assholes?

These guys should be recycled and fed back to the other homeless people..........HEY WAIT!! Thats the solution to the homeless problem!!!!! No wait! THE LAZY FUCKER PROBLEM is what it should be called.

^^That`s a shame Mr. Clean wrote a novel only to have it buried.

TV will still suck, just not suck as much as it has lately.

I think I was beginning to like Stewart/Colbert without the writers. I bet half of them will lose their jobs since they`re obviously not needed.

God, I really could not give a shit about anybody other than Seth green, Mc. farlane, and Stewart/Colbert.

Seriously.
Other than that, I don`t like ANYTHING else on TV.

Plus, these jack asses didn`t even get what they wanted. They lost more than they gained. And maybe their jobs too.

As a libertarian, I don`t mind writers going on strike. What pisses me off with strikes is when strikers demand a closed shop. While every person has the right to not trade and withhold one`s talent, no one has the right to coerce others to withhold their service (ie deny others the right to trade their services).
