Rubbish range, you can get 630 odd miles out of a BMW 635d, and that is not a particularly frugal car. So for the moment, even though hey say it is zero emissions, it really is not. After all unless every customer ensures that all the electricity they put into it is from renewable resources, then you have some emissions.

I do not see electric cars as being the future, hydrogen is, all we need is to find a clean way of producing it.

I have an electric vehicle
you dont go verry far, or fast, but when i was really drunk and crashed i am really glad it dosent go that fast
but not going to gas stations is priceless.
i still get my groceries family dinners and joy rides, ect.
60 km range. you make some compramises but things work out.
cars suck as they are, but this i might but one day.
im waiting for solar or somthing like that but lith is great.
search for a123 its a bat type see some builds.

^thats called a golf cart

this car is wild, and its not that expensive, for what you`re getting
90k? look at the corvette, or the viper. same category, comparable specs, AND you`re helping produce something good for the environment

although its not a 0 carbon emittion vehicle, since the power used to fuel it comes from power plants, and in the states theres lots of coal plants. but at night (when it would normally charge) the demand is lower so the pollution is aswell.

also I saw that within a few years they will have lithium Ion batteries with 10x the capacity of current ones, so. that would give it a 2500 mile range, give it a solar film covering and you`ve got yourself a car that needs no charging.

^nice poetry teflonmonkey.

Oh no! my hippy self and my mechanic/gearhead self are at odds. i LOVE... actually... i`m IN LOVE with the rumble of a decent engine, or even the sound that turbo... but I know that someday they`ll be gone, and it will be for the better.

I`ll have to learn to embrace the beauty of utter silence and clean air.

suc33d: i was gonna say you should have quit while you were ahead.... but you weren`t ahead from the get-go. your comment started off on a level path, and went downhill from there. Do you even know the definition of the word "emission"? What exactly is the car producing as an effect of being able to drive? nothing. i.e. zero emissions. Hydrogen cars have emissions. the hydrogen is used to power the car, and water is producted afterwards. gasoline and diesel cars have emissions... they produce "exhaust"..... carbon monoxide gas.... which as you should know isn`t too healthy to breathe, nor is it good for the environment, which is why cars have to meet emissions standards in order to be legal in the US. If cars had to pass emission standards also including what is required prior to running the car, Hummer`s wouldn`t exist..... nor would Escalades, GMC Yukon`s.... and whatever other huge a** SUV`s are on the market.

What a souless machine, seriously. What Happens if you are blind? What happens when you need to use the windshield wipers for a prolonged period? Where does most of our electricity come from? (Hint its not "enviornmentally friendly") Are we actually that important enough to affect the climate of the whole planet? Are we better than nature? Who profits from "Global Warming"? I don`t. Where is the scientific evidence to prove it properly, and I don`t mean a computer moodel where you can change the inputs. How much CO2 do we make compared to Nature? How much of a greenhouse gas is CO2? (95% of all greenhouse gas is water vapour) Isn`t the climate ALWAYS changing? I don`t mean seasons, I mean over the course hundreds of years. There was a period around 5,000 years ago when the earth was a few degrees warmer at the equator than it is now, the polar bears have been around longer than that, they adapt, thats what living things do to survive, thats why things evolve, because their enviornment changes! Rant over, If one person at least thinks about the validity of global warming, then I will be happy

Any electric car is producing pollution and hence not clean unless the electricity it uses is exclusively produced by environmentally friendly sources (solar, wind, water etc.). That is why the guy in the report mentions you should buy his solar panels in order to produce more electericity than the car is using (and of course to increase his profits). What also tends to be forgotten is the environmental impact in producing especially the batteries and although I`m sure a lot of these can be recycled there will be a considerable amount of waste after the rather short lifespan of those batteries. Don`t get me wrong I`m all pro alternative energy and this might be the way forward but one must look at all aspects before praising this technology into green heaven. OK now bury me!

Glad to hear someone is looking at all aspects before making an opinion, thats how they should be formed. I believe personally that Biofuels like Biodiesel, and more recently biogas can be used to keep our transportation infrastructure fairly intact once oil runs out. I also think that for electricity the future is Fission and with all the uranium there is on earth, we will figure out fusion long before uranium runs out, there is more than you think and it is very efficient compared to other methods (1 kg of uranium can produce as much energy as 1500 tonnes of coal)
