back in time somewhere a woman is probably placing a flower vase on top of that disk not knowing thousand years later it`ll get so much attention......on a serious note why did they not think it could`ve been a traveler from the east made it...after all people do travel everywhere even back then, that`s just my thought as i watch them damn near swear their life on it that it must`ve been made by europeans.

5/5 I love Horizon. One of my favourite programmes, but don`t have a TV. Keep them coming.

It seems to me we had a pretty good thing started a few thousand years ago; worship of the Sun, Moon, and stars had us well on the way to the study of astronomy. That complements a study of the solstices, the seasons, and the Earth, birth and death, sowing and harvesting, which is the root of all the terrestrial and life sciences.

And then everyone started worshiping this dead, bleeding, mostly naked guy on a stick, drinking his blood and eating his flesh, in order to satisfy his bloodthirsty daddy war-god.

Big mistake.

We should go back to worshiping the Sun, Moon, Earth, stars, seasons, life.

Very interesting program. But it seems that they take a lot of their thoughts to be fact when they could just be coincidence.

I`d much rather see an ACTUAL documentary that studies the science of the issue rather than wasting so much time on mysterious music and comparisons to the stupid "bible."

complete waste of time...all this cuz of a circle with a dot in the middle. If you ask a five year old to draw a picture of the night sky I bet he could come up with shape of some significance if you look into it hard enough.

i think part of the reason it`s sooooo important is cuz it shows they weren`t complete dumbasses during the Bronze age.

I found this very interesting but why throw in all the religious clap-trap. Could this not simply be a time keeping device? The biblical references are total extrapolation and has no factual relevance.

is there a mod on this site that can ban sweden2007 all IT does is upload boring, Inaccurate and anti-British videos then goes around insulting other people and their videos.

"You do realise that you have been abusing your power and it has not gone unnoticed by the unbiased admins here at Spiked don`t you?

Carry on posting more of this rubbish and filling up Spiked servers. One day someone will tell you the truth, YOU ARE A BORING OLD FART WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN PENSIONED OFF YEARS AGO.... " -Sweden2007 (in the 3rd post on this video)
its ironic that sweden2007 said this about someone else when everyone thinks it about sweden.
please can one of the admins just ban him/her.

the thing i don`t like about bbc programs is that it`s soooo slow and full of useless snazzy graphics/weird music. it sort of tells you a story but doesn`t really explain things in a more efficient, educational manner. it`s like a dumbed down version. meh. interesting stuff though. i don`t see why they have to say it`s religious either. how can they infer that. they already said some of those symbols probably had to do with agriculture. of course though many ppl worshiped the cosmos, but u can`t just say the disc is a religious relic just like that. could be a dinner plate, could be a wall hanging. hey it could even be a spinning hubcap for carts eh? anyways, isn`t it ironic that back before electricity man marvelled at the universe that wandered across the night sky, these days not many people would give it much thought.

Comparative dating ftw!

I mean, we all know that only modern people would have heirlooms! There is no way in hell some guy would be buried with his prized four hundred year old swords and a local knock off of an Egyptian "artifact", right? No way!

Also, considering the disk itself was only analyzed a year or more after it was found, and considering the "criminals" said it was in the same hole at the same depth as the swords, then they must have been buried together right? "Criminals" don`t lie about that sort of thing, do they?

This "find" is a load of bollocks and is essentially meaningless because it is an "outlier" - it is so different from any other related discovery but contains themes seemingly not native to the area, that to consider it a work of that area in total (and not just a local knock off for example) is stretching credulity to the breaking point.

Klavlav, I deeply respect your opinions and generally vote you up. I especially like your views on homosexuality, marriage and government. I even like a lot of what say about the environment and Nature. However, what you posted above was not only disgusting and sacriligeous, but incredibly ugly. Shame on you for preaching tolerance and then tear apart one of the most important figures in history and indeed Western culture. I may not agree with a lot of what the Bible says or peoples interpretations, but I would never say a word against Jesus, even if I didn`t believe in him. I`m sorry, but I`ve lost respect for you. -1 Klalav
