I don`t understand, why they refer to Egyptian civilization as a first one, when there are real facts of Sumerian civilization which was a little bit older (6000-2500 years B.C. approx.) and many cities are found in India and surrounding areas which are 7000-7500 B.C. according to age analysis, and they had a very complex infrastructure for that time (which is actually may be described as a presence of civilization).

i didn`t watch the 2nd part yet, what if the disc was something traded or stolen from a far away city in the mediterranian and brought to northern europe? that would mean the ppl weren`t so advanced as they are thinking. but anyway, some ppl might not care, but to me, to find something left behind by people thousands of years ago is exciting. so many generations ago, someone`s hands made that object. it was in someone`s house, ppl touched it, their eyes admired it, and now your eyes and hands are able to feel it.

Well, I think saying Egypt had the first civilization is a poorly worded mistake, a phrasing problem. We can`t obviously be totally accurate, but there are a few ancient cultures around the globe that existed simultaneously, or even before the Egyptian dynastic periods. I think what stands out, though, is the amount of tangible evidence we have. Egypt`s unique (or at least we thought it was unique) aspirations toward architecture, etc, left tons of stuff behind for us to dig up. Maybe we could just use something else to describe it, save all this explanation: that Egypt was the earliest "large empire" or "organized, dynastic civilization." Of course, we`ll likely never know for sure which societies were the big guys for exactly how long and when, but there`s always conjecture. We`re pretty good at that.
