as much as I lol`ed, klavlav is right. I`ve been to a church where a humble couple would give 50% of their weekly paycheck. luckily, the fat preaching bastard didn`t get a cent from me [since I wasn`t working at the time]. to this day, I`ve yet to find another "good" church where they don`t require your money but literally give it out to those that are less fortunate.

Have you ever read any Dorothee Sölle? She was a Liberation Theologist who coined the term "Christofascist" to describe the fundamentalists who, if Jesus returned, would probably be the first to nail him up...again. I have a feeling you might really like what she had to say.

Also, there is the work of Beyers Naudé, the South African human rights activist. He and Sölle were friends and influenced each other. There was an interview many years ago on Dutch TV with both of them together. It was very moving to watch. I only wish more Christians were like them (and not gross parodies of themselves like the monster Carry portrays here).
