Hitler and his Zombie Nation

During WWII the Germans were happy to revel in their military successes thanks to a nasty little Austrian. Once they realised defeat was imminent, they quickly changed their tune. They were a nation of zombies happy to be led into their vile vision of paradise. Have you ever noticed that many Germans say that for every Jew killed, many were saved by normal German people. Yet, the normal German people argue they were unaware of the concentration camps at the time. So what exactly were they saving the Jews from, if they believed no threat existed? (Text by me. Do you think you would have been better at standing up to the Reich? That’s what fascism is dumbass, if you resist suddenly secret police show up and your life goes to hell. Everyone was afraid, not brainwashed.

^ Whoa. Settle down, slow down, and re-read the text. I`m not going to speak for ShapeSphere, but I think it`s no stretch to suggest that the fear you`re talking about is one aspect of the brainwashing he mentions.

People often assuage their fears by aligning themselves with the force they fear in hopes they`ll be spared. Some even go so far as to *believe* the orthodoxy they once feared.

In this way, "brainwashing" can often have a surprisingly intentional, conscious aspect to it, with people aware on some level of their actions as well as the resulting contradictions. Countless Germans were indeed well aware of Hitler`s madness, yet felt powerless to resist. Likewise for many Japanese at that time, or white Americans during the era of slavery, or many Americans now.

People are often far more aware than they let on, sometimes even to themselves. It`s frustrating when this hinders needed change, but provides a glimmer of hope as well.

You can be afraid. That`s natural. But you don`t have to be brainwashed if you don`t want to be.

I know an guy that was in the Hitler youth during WWII. He said he didn`t really beleive all the things Hitler was saying, but felt very special, as well as, new found power by following Hitler`s words. People were swept up into it, just as those are swept up in Scientology, only on a much larger scale. It is the feeling of thinking you know something that very few do, when in fact, you know nothing exept blind faith, and a willingness to follow...

They were swept up by the nationalism like sheep, or lambs to the slaughter might be more apt. Have you ever heard of passive resistance? It`s not an arcane English grammar rule, but a way of preserving your own skin and doing something, instead of being an automaton and basking in the glory of cruelty and oppression. I`m sick of all these excuses from ex-Nazis. They`re only fooling themselves.

Even without knowledge of the concentration camps the situation of the jews was obviously pretty bad (not allowed to buy in normal stores, drive a car or even visit the beach), so that might not be a strong point there. I agree though, that after the defeat of Germany suddenly all Germans pretended to have been anti-fascists for the last 12 years. Except for the few who rather committed suicide that is.

Fortunately there were some people who did really oppose the nazis (don`t let the valkyrie movie fool you... the military leaders who tried to assasinate hitler were war criminals too and do by no means belong to this category) and protected the jews, the handicapped, the gypsies, the slave-workers from all over (eastern) europe, socialists and others, who were in constant danger of being killed every day. Unfortunately those brave people were not the majority. But to deny their deeds would be a crime in itself.

Well when you see starving Jews on the street you didn`t need to know about concentration camps to know what was going on. People weren`t stupid, they were afraid.

His zombie nation saw him as the best choice as to get the country out of the the depression. They were desperate and he was the most ideal at the time. Who knows, if the nazis didnt get control it very well could of been the communists.

What do you like to say with that video? I don´t get it!
And, by the way, the Austrians weren´t zombies, neither were the Germans. It is true that most of the soldiers fighting at the front, didn´t know anything about the "Konzentrationslager", but the german residents knew that their neighbours vanished, that there were imprisoncamps etc. But as long as your own life isn´t harmed, the economy is getting better and the social and economical chances are better than before, many humans decide to ignore on whats going on around them. Even if it is a totalitary regime like the 3rd Reich.

Just have a look at the world today and what is going on right now. I hope we will never get a second Hitler and a 3rd,or as they would call it, 4th Reich once more!!!
