Living Under House Arrest in Beijing, Ch...

"Chinese state security police have arrested one of the country's most prominent civil rights activists, Hu Jia. In a video diary, he recorded life under house arrest – and round-the-clock surveillance – with his wife, Zeng Jinyan." From the British newspaper 'The Guardian'. (Personally, I am surprised that China even employs house arrest. Who could stop them from placing Hu Jia in prison with no access to anything or anyone? The world does nothing and can do nothing to stop the Chinese government's abuse of power.)

That would drive me nuts, especially the part where the guy with the cellphone gets in the girl`s way all the time like that.

I hope they do a revolution soon.

It is not abusing power if you have absolute power.

pretty tame compared to the stuff their government does all the time, but sucks to be that guy and his family. don`t be surprised if you start seeing this in the States if things continue the way they are. there probably already is stuff like this going on in our country anyway, they just don`t do it so out in the open. like wire tapping, surveillance, searches without warrants when ppl aren`t home, the blacklist for airline flights. it`s all for `your protection`, but really, how much does it take for the government to switch their focus from `terrorists` to activists and dissenters? at the very least, to do something about it, vote for ppl who are against secret organizations and interrogations, and survelliance over your rights. that eliminates a lot of representatives and presidential nominees already.

Sorry Vidder, this will never be front page. The media refuses to even run stories detailing the actions of our own government. What you see here is the result of a government that has complete control over its people. In time China will change, the seeds of democracy have already rooted and taken hold. Money has changed the landscape of China and will continue to do so in the future. Here in America we are having the opposite effect, money has only served to corrupt this great nation. Our government no longer serves the people, instead it serves corporate interest. Although this video shows a very extreme form of government control, even now you can see aspects of this in our own country. Unlike China things will not change for the better for America, too many people defend our move to a police state with such statements as, "If you are not doing anything wrong then you should have nothing to hide."

China has a corruption perception index of 3.5, which is prity bad. Comparatively Afghanistan is 1.8, where Denmark is 9.4

Yeah those evil Chinese! How dare they put a man who receives foreign funding and assistance under surveillance/house arrest?

The west is well known for setting up FAKE human rights organisations that are nothing more than fronts for spies and revolutionaries. Now imagine this was a man in the US funded/assisted by the Chinese to bring down the US government - can you say "extraordinary rendition"?

This is why we (U.S.) have the 2nd amendment. "From my cold dead hands" was a statement of defiance against this kind of shit.
