why do they always look surprised when they get flagged?

i dont watch soccer, but someone who does should answer this question. what is the red flag for? im too lazy to look it up. yellow for minor infractions? red for major infractions? are there penalties associated with a rule violation like how hockey players are benched for 2 minutes when they beat the shit out of eachother?

yeah youre kinda right. the yellow cards are for "minor"infractions. 2 of those make a red card, and then youre off the field. Its also possible to get a red card in 1 try, that would be a major infraction.

and for your other question...
They look surprised because they want to act that they havent done anything to deserve that penalty.But in this case Holland got screwed over by Portugal, who obviously had a better drama-teacher,and in a lot of cases a Portugal player just went down so it looked like its a (major/minor) infraction. The ref bought it, and the rest is history.

im dutch canadian and I watched that match back in o6` and it was the cheapest game I had ever seen. dutch lost in the end sumwat to their own fault of not being able to hit the net but the dutch are a better team overall.

Why is it whenever someone rags on soccer the immediate defence is "it`s harder than football or baseball"??
Like anyone that doesn`t like the game MUST be an American, or be into 2 of it`s sports? It`s the lamest defence on Earth. "We know its a bitch sport! But it`s no bitchier than football! Waaah"
No arguements here! they`re both crap! But it STILL doesn`t make soccer any less of a pussy sport.
Yes, it takes a lot of skill and stamina, OBVIOUSLY! It`s still a fairy sport though that rewards CHEATING, and being a PUSSY/LIAR.

When that changes, maybe it`ll get a little respect. I`d be so fucking easy too. A two second look at the monitor and a pair of BALLS on the ref. Problem solved.
And yes, there`s obviously cheating in all sports. But soccer is a fucking punchline when it comes to crap like this. I just don`t get how as a man you could go home and look your son in the eye after he`d seen you do something like take a blatant dive and whine like a bitch. urgh.

Bloody Portuguese...the cheapest football team in the world, followed closely by Italy and Spain and some South American teams. Always pisses me off when I watch a Portuguese/Italian/Spanish team play against a fair team like the English. The Brits run their asses off, they play their hearts out and die for that ball only to lose because the dammn cheaters dive and play dirty tricks that the ref can`t see. I wish they would introduce video replay already, it would eliminate so much of that shit.

And fuck anyone who rags of football, it takes incredible skill, agility, athleticism and coordination to play the game. Let me see a baseball or American football player run nearly non-stop for 2 hours.

portugal has a lot of star players on some of the best teams in europe,
and wait, who won the game again? yeah portugal did
no matter what team wins or loses , theres always going to be crybabies and moaners, just take a loss with some class, and look forward to facing the team again, and hopefully there will be a different outcome right? not much more you can do
