If by "weird" you mean the continent with the least STDs/STIs, the lowest rates of abortion and unwanted pregnancy, the lowest rates of infant mortality and the greatest amount of sexual freedom, then yes, give me "weird" any day.

If by "weird" you mean places like Holland which was recently declared as the country with the happiest children, according to an international survey, then I`m fine with weird. This kind of sex education was common in my son`s school in Amsterdam. Indeed, he probably could have given a guided tour of such an expo when he was six.

If "normal" is defined as backwards, Anglo-American prurient prudery where only airbrushed supermodels are allowed to pose and expose, but where real nudity at the beach or the locker-room is a source of shame and derision, or where violence on TV is routine and accepted but a "wardrobe malfunction" at the Superbowel (or is it `bowl`?...whatever) almost causes mob violence, then please, I`ll take weird, the weirder the better.

And yes, this is clip is from France (another country that can boast happier children than the US or UK), the "Zizi" exhibition created by the author of the popular French sex education series for kids:

edit for Fuzzyman: Yes, like you said, the UK isn`t nearly as liberal as Western Europe, though it`s nowhere nearly as bad as the US. There is this spectrum that all the English speaking countries seem to span, actually, with all of them tending to be more prude than Europe. In the UNICEF study I mentioned, the UK and the US are clustered together down at the bottom of the list.

I would really love it though if, post-Tony Blair, the UK decides to move closer to its European neighbours in mindset, and distance itself from the US.

I`m sure it will make the kids happier...

Klavlav - your comment owned and I agree with almost everything you said... But why the distinction between the UK and the rest of Europe? I don`t think the UK is NEARLY as prude as the US. But having lived in Germany for three years, I agree it is not as liberal as the rest of Europe and something is obviously failing in our sex education, evidenced by the high rate of teenage pregnancies in the UK.
