America got involved in the Vietnam War because they needed to gain Frances allegiance in NATO and to stop the "Domino Theory" of communism. The US government did not start that war and they where incapable of ending it. After the north’s victory, communism did not envelop Asia as was feared. Prosperity returned to the nation of Vietnam and now they and the US are world partners. You decide if America was an evil monster or just caught up in a civil war their leaders could not solve.

EckJerome you are pathetic. Usa did commit genocide in Vietnam, killing millions, poisoning the land in Vietnam, so many vietnams are born with no arms and no legs today and for many years yet.

Usa have done much more bad, then good things. WW2 was won by the Soviet Union, not the Usa. It was the Red Army that first got in to Berlin, not the Usa army. Usa have commited genocide on many. Indians, Vietnamese, and many more.

i think you`re both have valid points.

But EckJerome, you only mention D-Day, that`s only one battle man. And the Americans were certainly not the only ones there that day, they were just the only ones at Omaha beach, there were other beaches and other countries helping out that day. I don`t know if the soviets were there or not, but to say that the States were the only reason the war was won is just as deluded as saying they had NOTHING to do with it.

Just so it`s clear, anyone that hates the states based on GWB is an idiot. But in the same respect, anyone that thinks the states is infallible is just as stupid.

My D-day comment was sarcasm...I thought that was obvious. I didn`t say anything about WWII before that. Vrs brought it up just to bash America.

That said, it`s unlikely that Hitler would have been stopped without the Americans or without the British or without the Soviets (who, for the record, were not part of the D-day invasion). If Hitler had not double-crossed the Soviets, who were previously on the German side, then it would certainly have made it that much more difficult...because we (the allies) would have had to continue onto Moscow after the fall of Berlin. WWII was won by the concerted effort of most of the world...not just the Soviets and not just the Americans, it was everyone together.

Vrs is an idiot because he/she absolutely no sense of the moral relativity of war and blames absolutely everything on the USA...and I never once said that the USA was perfect.

The British were severely tired and weakened by consistent attacks by the German Powerhouse, and as for your lovable Russians, there little ploy in Berlin was not SHIT compared to what the British and U.S. had to endure to GET to Berlin. Battle of the Bulge?? Normandy??? Liberating France???

Oh, and VRS, if you want to play the "Native Americans" as a trump card, look back into your own countries history please before pointing fingers. Its hard enough having to watch the kettle call the pot black. The countries of this world have more dirt than the U.S. has, mainly because of their seniority.

genocide is what the Viet government was doing to there own people not what the americans were doing . Rwanda is another case of genocide as well as many other African countries. genocide is the killing of peoples for religious or different believes or ancestry this has nothing to do with what the americans were doing in vietnam

i am not spouting any anti american or anti communist beliefs i am saying know what you are saying or else you look like a fool and saying that the vietnam war was one of genocide (on the americans behalf) is a gross misuse of the word.
