The Samurai (2/3)

Part Two. The meaning of the word samurai is derived from saburau - "to serve". These Japanese warriors would obey their lord and remain bound to a code of ethics known as bushido. The samurai had their origins in the 6th century AD, and grew in influence over time. In 1868, as Japan's feudal era ended, the samurai class was finally abolished.
