DARPA Urban Challenge 2007

Short clip from the DARPA Urban Challenge, which is a prize competition for driverless cars. Races in previous years took place in remote desert areas, but this year they decided to increase the challenge and race in an urban environment. Does anyone have footage of the entire race?

^ In the last race in 2005 5 cars made it to the finish. PBS made a good documentary about that race. The year before all cars crashed after a few miles. Just shows you how much progress they made in a year.

In 2007 cars had to obey all traffic regulations while negotiating with other traffic and obstacles.

yay go stanford. But they lost to Carnegie mellon this year:( CMU won the first place, stanford second, and virginia tech (i think) third in the 2007 race.

The tech looks crude now but in 10-15 years it`ll be seamlessly integrated into new vehicles. Maybe. Technology is always changing. Nice to see the GTI in the background too. MY CAR!
