First time I fired a shotgun I punched myself in the nose very hard due to the kick. However I was also about 9... Still, if you`ve never fired a gun.. especially a shotgun or a muzzle loader it`s difficult to really have any concept of how much kick there is.
In truth there isn`t much.. everyone usually takes the first shot and has to get used to it.. Any how he`s better then Dick Cheney!

It`s not how the gun is loaded that gives it kick, it`s the charge behind the projectile and if there is/isn`t a muzzle break or any other device to offset the recoil.

nobody ever listen to those who say "Put it firmly against your shoulder" it`s the only way to reduce the recoil to a minimum. (of course semi-automatics have less recoil since they use a part of this energy to reload the next bullet automatically)

i saw the thumbnail to this vid and i KNEW something was gonna go down. i was hoping it would be the kid and maybe one or two people standing behind him. this kid was leaning backwards for christ-sakes! why would his dad let him stand in that position! his brother sound like a little girl as well.
First time I fired a shotgun it was a 12gauge Side-By-Each breech loader. and shooting at clay pigeons. i knew they had Good kick so i leaned into it real good, and my first shot hit the mark right on. those things are crazy loud and the sound is nothing short of empowering.

Side note:
Anyone else find amusement in opening the breech and listening to the sound of the empty cartridges fly out of the barrel? ka-SHOONK! lol

The funny thing is that its a 410 shotgun and they are super wussy.


I used to shoot sparrows with my 410 for practice. Hit the smallest bird with the smallest load, now thats skill.
