The earth`s gravity is actually still pulling at you (why else did NASA have to go to about 2/3 of the distance between the earth and the moon before the moon`s gravity was stronger than the earth`s?), but your in a constant free-fall around the earth: the force of gravity and the constant momentum make you go in a circular orbit. The fact that people float in space is because you have a sense of weightlessness, due to the constant free fall.
