ugh im gonna get hated for this...
though chuck wins his fights, i still think of him as a mediocre fighter. does he ever keep his hands up? EVER?!
i like other fighters more then him simply because they keep thier stature with the hands covering the face, taking positions from BJJ, Muay Tai, TKD, or Kung Fu. Chuck is in every definition a brawler. I dont know what styles he is proficient in because he doesnt do anything that resembles anything i know of, and he doesnt seem to know anything about fighting on the ground.
other fighters spend years training in only one style and you can really tell they devoted thier lives to it. Chuck gives off that vibe that he took what he learned and only wanted that knowledge so he could win fights.

Please give me your point of view on this subject

Brawler for sure, Chuck is still a smart fighter though and I think Chuck does that on purpose because he is a great counter attacker.
He gives the other guy room to limp in and then catches him with a counter and finishes it as quickly as he can.

If that game plan works, why should he change it?

@L3b3rt, Alistair is a Muay Thai fighter, and he had his hands up when he got rocked by Chuck. Hence, I really don`t see how your points about different fighting styles and technique are valid.

Ahh i see. so your saying chuck uses that open guard technique to suck the opponent in, then counter?
makes good sense i suppose. hey if it works...i guess he shouldnt change it until someone adapts, if ever. what stuns me is his ability to shake off huge blows to the head like that punch at 0:11 that gave him whiplash. Holy crap.

Chuck is a good tactician.Yeah indeed he doesn`t really resemble anything.I would say he`s more like a peasant fighter.Who`s just naturarly good.

Chuck Liddell is not an amateur striker or a brawler. He has been kickboxing ever since he was young. The reason he keeps his hands down are because he is comfortable with his distance and confident in his countering abilities. He is a counter fighter, he wants you to chase him so that he can counter while you are moving forward.

He does especially well against south-paws, as in the major strike in this fight. In terms of technique, he is not someone good to learn from because he has adapted for himself and given up a lot of technique and relies on experience.

Flawed technique - ok when you`re young & fast...not so good when you`re old and slow. Rampage & Rashad etc. proved it. No disrespect, but kids should learn proper skills to protect themselves.
