Chinese Red Army Parade

Chinese military celebrates 50 years of victory of communism. Gazillion of soldiers marching like one. There are girl-soldiers as well. Everything is so perfect, enough to make Lt. Gen. Scheisskopf envious!

victory of communism?? More like victory of capitalism with a dash of communism. Also while this is an impressive display of numbers, the chinese military is still largely ill-equipped with pieces of equipment from the 50`s still being used among other things.

*edit* v v that makes sense then if its just the celebration of the initial victory.

hm.. maybe I wasn`t clear, but this parade is 50th anniversary of People`s Republic of China. On October 1st, 1949, Mao Zedong declared a victory of Communist Party of China over Kuomintang and other anti-commie elements. As for the poor equipment, I totally agree. They are still flying old Mig-19`s, using AK-47 (local version) without burst-fire mode, etc.

Whatever the lack of equipment the Chinese have, they make up for with impressive discipline. You have to give them that.

^^ whats scary is that with their economy doing really well, if they updated their military equipment they could really upset the balance of power in that region. The only way the US or UN could keep them in check would be with sanctions.. 8|

impressive display nonetheless

^^^Sanctions, we get almost all of our goods from China now, how exactly are we to sanction that? They hold all the cards, and we dealt them...

China has mainly been updating its navy and gearing its army to defend the country from America and its military. This is from 99 almost ten tears ago. Their recent attempt to update their navy is in direct competition with American navel control. China is much tougher militarily then many people give them credit for. While they wouldn`t be capable of a successful invasion any military action against China, by any nation would be disastrous for the whole world.

@velocity, you can definitely sanction them still, its like Iran the US sanctioned them but because of their oil exports their forced to still do business with us because if they didn`t the effects would be terrible.

With China, because we import so much of their manufactured goods if they were to stop completely in their business dealings with the US it would be not only disastrous to their economy and the U.S`s but the world economy as well. I doubt that China would be able to take on the world.

^^^Jaready, this was true maybe 5 or even 2 years ago, but it is no longer. China does not need the US, or the North American Economy to keep it strong. Actually the whole world has gotten off the, `nipple`, if you will. This is why countries are changing from US oil dollars, to a new basket of currencies based on anything but the American Dollar. They no longer need the US, you are now on your own. Good luck with that...

Why the hell would you sanction China? They`re an ally. The best way to get them to fix their human rights violations, and end religious and territorial persecution is to TRADE WITH THEM. Trade opens windows, and introduces cultures. You know why the Civil Rights boycotts were so successful? Because businesses couldn`t function. Look at American businesses now, compared to 50 years go. If you find out someone at the top of a company is a racist, thats the end of that company. If businesses in China want to appeal to US and the world markets, they`re going to have to distance themselves from their political views.

China has been privatizing businesses, because they`re rolling with the changes. Socialism isn`t going to work for them. You can hate all the Mcdonalds you want for making people fat, but when you`ve got 1.3 billion people eating American products, that equals PEACE! And Maybe, just maybe, one of those fat ass burger eaters in China end up being incharge of their entire government, and realize, "hey, them yanks ain`t so bad."

@velocity73R, What the fuck are you talking about. China and the US are business partners. Check out this video: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=07d_1197888465. The richest woman in the world is a CHINESE woman. 31 billion. She takes trash America produces, and turns it into packaging material, and sells it back to us. And you`re telling us China doesn`t need us? We need EACHOTHER, that`s how peace is formed. If China and the US suddenly cut ties, that means the thousands of jobs that the Chinese woman created would be LOST, and those jobs aren`t easily replaced, especially in China. Then someone else is going to steal her idea, and become rich like her. The ONE thing I know Chinese leaders value is pride, and they won`t allow something like this.

^^^So America`s main Export is the trash that comes from Chinese Imported goods, and then the US buy`s this trash back and you think that makes for good trading partners. The US GDP used to consist of manufacturing, farm[wheat, dairy, ect.], and inovation. It now consist`s of trash, and leveraged debt, if you are too blind cromsonhaz3 to understand a Country cannot live off increasing debt, it may be time for an eye examination. No country has ever lasted much more than 50 years on a, `fiat` currency, since the time of Rome, and even before that. Your country is now in year 38 of those 50. Do you think you know something all those Greek Scholars, and the people through history did not? Uncle Sam is spending money like a drunken sailor. America`s outstanding debt now stands at nearly $10 trillion - and it`s growing at $1.64 billion per day. The solution: print more money… cheapening every dollar you own. Until one day you`ll wake up and it`ll be a $100.00 for a loaf of bread. Think it can`t happen, again what makes your country so special, than all the rest who have fallen the same way?

The parade is just showboating, with no real substance. But the music is awesome though. The Chinese can keep their AK47`s, but I want the mp3 of that song!

What a boring parade, too uptight. In my town our local national guardsman walk by throwing handfuls of candy to kids on the side of the road during our Christmas parade.

It was mentioned that there were girl soldiers. I just noticed they all looked like girls. Not sure if anyone noticed.

Don`t know if anyone commented on this yet, but it wasn`t in the description: Apparently this isn`t new, but took place on Chinese National Day, October 1st, 1999 - approx. 8 years ago. Thought some would like to know
