watched this a while back but i remember the point seemed to be the whole first half of the movie was an ideal version of reality dreamed up by naomi watts` character. the winning personality, popularity, great acting skill and prospects, the other girl being in love with her and dependent on her and not getting the movie part based on talent was all created on her mind, the very diffierent reality coming in the second half.
