Great aircraft, great work horse of the USAAF.

I have heard stories that you could always tell a Liberator pilot apart from a Flying Fortress pilot because a Liberator pilot always had a bigger left formarm then right.

This is because of the control issues in the B-24 and the stress it put on the left arm of the pilot over the course of the flight in a need to keep the aircraft steady.

I saw this baby in sacramento. They do a lot of touring, and I have seen it with the B-17 and B-29...I basically came my pants when they landed at McClellan AFB.

Ah! There are two of these left in the world and quite a while ago, maybe five months, I helped restore the other one back to bomber specs. The one I worked on had been used for training and was on its way to New Mexico when it crashed. It was salvaged and changed to cargo, and just recently been acquired by the air museum that I had volunteered to help restore...
